Overview
Water is vital to life, and in California, it’s an extremely limited resource. California WaterFix – Governor Brown’s proposed $17 billion project designed to solve the state’s water woes – was reaching its most critical stage in August 2017 after more than 10 years of study. FHA worked with the Southern California Water Coalition, a regional non-profit leader on water issues, to educate and engage supporters in advance of critical votes on WaterFix that threatened to kill the project.
After recruiting, educating, and mobilizing a coalition of labor, business, public officials, and environmental groups using original research findings, compelling content, and a series of briefing meetings, WaterFix soared through critical votes with a renewed sense of urgency and narrative, well-preparing the project for its next hurdle at the state level.
