Overview

In 2018, the Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) partnered with FHA to raise awareness for the need for a state of the art construction and safety features of the proposed Syphon Reservoir Improvement Project – an investment to expand an existing recycled water storage reservoir to secure the community’s water future from the increasing impacts of drought and climate change.

After implementing a multi-year public education and outreach campaign that resulted in over 500,000 touch points with community members in IRWD’s service area through YouTube videos, social media, newsletter articles, direct mail, grassroots, and grasstops outreach, community meetings, and a speaker’s bureau, IRWD certified their Final Environmental Impact Report in 2021 after receiving resounding support from the people, families, and businesses that will benefit from the Syphon Reservoir Improvement Project.
